If you provide care for someone either in their home or your own, you might find you have less time for household chores and home and garden maintenance.

If the housework is mounting up or the garden has become a little overgrown, ECH is here to help with an extensive range of services designed to support you in your caring role.

You can access assistance with household chores, such as cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming and washing clothes, or arrange for a gardener to help with pruning or mowing lawns.

ECH can also provide assistance with home modifications, such as installing grab rails or access ramps, to make it safer for both you and the person you care for.

How else can ECH help?

The ECH nursing team is also available to assist with medication or wound management, dementia management, education and support for incontinence and general health assessments. This service can provide a great deal of reassurance regarding the wellbeing of the person you care for.

If you need to take a break from your caring role to re-energise, you can access at-home overnight respite. ECH can provide a trained, friendly staff member to stay with the person you care for while you are away. Generally the service is available between 8pm and 7am however if you require alternative hours this can be arranged.

ECH also offers respite via Day Programs at multiple sites.

No matter your age, ECH services are available on a self-funded basis. If you or the person you care for is aged 65 years or over, you may qualify for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) or a Home Care Package (HCP). You may be able to use some of this funding to access ECH services to support you in and around your home, including respite care.
