Learn new skills and meet new people by attending various workshops supported by ECH staff and volunteer led groups at the Cumberland Park Community Centre.

Workshops include:

  • Batch Cooking
    Led by volunteers with ingredients grown in the Community Garden along with others donated by the local Woolworths.
  • Art
    Led by the ECH Complimentary Therapies Coordinator, attendees can learn about painting, sketching and other forms of art.
  • Knitting and Crochet/Quilting and Sewing for a Purpose
    The group knit beanies and scarves for the homeless, rugs and toys for children and sensory blankets for people living with dementia and make quilts for local charities.
  • Community Gardening
    Supported by the ECH Horticulturist, produce is harvested and given away or used for Batch Cooking.
  • Men’s Group BBQ Lunch
    Promoting friendship for men. BBQ lunch on the first Wednesday of each month.
  • English Conversation for People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities (CALD)
    Enjoy conversation with people from local CALD communities
  • IT Workshops
    Led by an ECH ICT Support Officer and designed to teach you what you’d like to learn. Bring your own device or there are a limited amount of Samsung tablets available to use.
  • Tea and Toasties
    Everyone welcome! Pop in for a tea or coffee and a toastie!
  • Mini Op Shop
    People take what they want and give what they can!
  • Various Monthly Workshops
    Covering a range of themes such as ‘Composting’ or ‘Make Your Own Terrarium’, led by the ECH Horticulturist.

Cost and Eligibility Criteria

To ensure sustainability of the programs we encourage all participants over the age of 65 years to register with My Aged Care for CHSP Group Social Support funding. Once CHSP funding is in place you can access the workshops for a weekly gold coin donation to the Cumberland Park Community Centre.
