Ron's Story

"For more than 20 years Ron has been avidly supporting the families of fallen soldiers through practical assistance and fundraising."
Ron Clark
Holly Residential Care Centre

Ron’s childhood was lived out during the post-war years of the Depression. His father had been a sergeant with the Australian Army but he died young of war-related injuries. Ron and his siblings became wards of Legacy. Ron went on to live a full working life, serving in the army in World War II and from 1946-1954 in the Pacific Islands and Japan. He was then a farmer for some years before joining an agricultural firm and eventually going out on his own. Ron joined Legacy as a volunteer in 1988. Ron says he “wanted to give something back” by ensuring the welfare of those left behind. Ron and Carol, who live at ECH’s Holly Residential Care Centre, brought up six children and now have 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
