Living Well Program

Research has confirmed that being engaged with your local community significantly enhances your wellbeing. Being connected is good for your physical and mental health. The ECH Living Well program can assist independent living unit residents with this process of connection.

This may be through:

  • attending social, educational or physical exercise programs
  • seeking out new interests
  • support for continuing current hobbies or reclaiming past interests
  • information about local services
  • accessing volunteer support
  • exploring opportunities to volunteer
  • participating in culturally specific networks

There is a range of options available for older people and each metropolitan region offers many similar programs and also location specific activities. Options include:

Recreational pursuits
Your local council will be able to provide information regarding seniors exercise programs. Also, Council on the Ageing (COTA) can provide you with details of their Strength for Life program, which is affiliated with local gyms to provide individualised strength-based exercises for over 50s at reduced rates. Contact COTA on (08) 8232 0422 or visit www.seniorsvoice.org.au.

Arts and culture
Your local council is a great place to start when searching for information on arts and culture. Also try looking up the Adelaide Theatre Guide www.theatreguide.com.au or contacting the Adelaide Art Society on (08) 8267 4226 or visiting their website www.adelaideartsociety.com.au.
