Painful feet can be a major barrier to living a full life. ECH Podiatrists are skilled in a range of foot and ankle complaints, so whether you want to overcome foot pain to do an activity you enjoy, manage diabetes-related foot issues or simply be able to comfortably walk around the shops, they can help.

How can an ECH Podiatrist help?

ECH Podiatrists can diagnose and support you to manage conditions such as calluses, corns, ingrown toenails, heel spurs, pinched nerves and joint disorders such as arthritis.

They can recommend approaches to lessening or even stopping discomfort and may perform direct treatment on your feet if needed.

When you first meet with a podiatrist they will talk with you to understand the foot issues you are facing and what you would like to achieve.

Common client goals include:

  • preventing diabetes foot-related problems
  • having tidy cut toenails because you can no longer reach them yourself, or are unable to cut them due to arthritis in your hands
  • being able to select suitable shoes that will effectively support the walking and activities you like to do
  • overcoming foot pain from corns, callouses, heel pain or arthritis in feet

Helping Colin get back to bowling

ECH client and independent living resident Colin loves getting together with friends for his regular ten-pin bowling sessions, but chronic pain had left him unable to participate. Colin turned to ECH wellness services for help, including podiatry, to re-build his strength and mobility.

“Two years ago, I couldn’t have bowled if you paid me,” he said. “But I’ve been able to bowl for 18 months now, and it doesn’t give me any discomfort whatsoever.”

Bowling is such an important part of Colin’s social and physical wellbeing, he is now focused on maintaining his fitness to keep playing.
