About LGBTI Connect

Co-created with members from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ+) communities, ECH LGBTI Connect provides culturally safe access, navigation, advocacy and connection to aged care services for and from LGBTI community members in South Australia.

ECH is South Australia’s first Rainbow Tick accredited aged-care service provider.

ECH is a not-for-profit that is highly committed to being inclusive of clients and staff with differing backgrounds.

In 2017, ECH became the first South Australian aged care provider to receive Rainbow Tick accreditation by meeting six national standards of inclusive practice and service delivery for LGBTIQ+ clients.

The Rainbow Tick accreditation demonstrates to current and future ECH clients, as well as ECH employees, the commitment ECH makes to being a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for members of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Meet the team

The ECH LGBTI Connect Team comprises four older members of the LGBTI community with a deep appreciation of the fears, concerns and challenges older members of the LGBTIQ+ community face as they age.

A conversation or meeting with an ECH LGBTI Connector will be culturally safe, highly confidential and non-judgemental.

CONNECT WITH US

Join an ECH Rainbow Social Connections Event

Every third Wednesday of each month, ECH organises monthly Rainbow Social Connections Events. Hosted by the ECH LGBTI Connect team these events are a great way to connect with other members from the LGBTIQ+ community in a culturally safe way.

Discover the best of South Australian culture including museums, art galleries, wildlife centres and more with the LGBTI Connect Team by your side.

Enjoy a visit from an LGBTI Volunteer

Are you 55 or over and part of the LGBTIQ+ community? Do you like a good chat yet find it hard to get out and about?
ECH offers a free LGBTI Volunteer Home Visiting Program to support older members of the LGBTIQ+ community to remain socially connected.

Each month a vetted ECH volunteer, from the LGBTIQ+ community, will visit you in your own home. Visits can involve remaining at home or your volunteer visitor can take you out to watch a movie, visit a park or attend other social activities*.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the Rainbow Social Connections events or the LGBTI Volunteer Home Visiting Program (either as a volunteer or requesting a visit) please complete the form below, call ECH on 1300 275 324 or email ask@ech.asn.au

*Costs of any activities outside the home are not covered by ECH or the ECH volunteer.

Discover the Possibilities

The LGBTI Connect Team bring the community together through a number of social events each month to rekindle connection or create new connections.  This is a gentle way to get to know the Team and to access information and advice on a range of aged care services to help you remain living confidently and independently as you age.
