Is your diet supporting you to have the best possible life as you age?
Maintaining a healthy weight and optimal nutrition is important at every age and an ECH qualified Dietician can help you make healthy food choices.
An ECH Dietician can help you understand the relationship between food and health, the nutritional value of different foods and how they interact with your body.
ECH offers dietetic services at its Wellness Centres at Henley Beach, Greenacres and Morphett Vale.
Why should I use a dietician?
A Dietician can work with you to identify and work towards your goals by developing a tailored plan that takes into account your lifestyle and food preferences. They ensure that good nutrition becomes a natural part of your daily life and can provide information on food nutrition and calories as well as some delicious recipes.
A Dietician can also teach you how to best manage disease or conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, malnutrition or food allergies or intolerances.
If an accident or illness has made eating or weight management more challenging for you, then your ECH Dietician can work with other allied health professionals to tailor an integrated approach to meet your specific needs.
For example a Speech Pathologist may address challenges with chewing or swallowing and a Physiotherapist may assist in overcoming physical barriers that prevent you from exercising.
No matter your age, ECH Wellness Centre services are available to you on a self-funded basis. If you have private health insurance you may be able to seek rebates from your provider. If you are aged 65 years or over, you may qualify for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) or a Home Care Package (HCP) and you may be able to use some of this funding to access ECH Wellness services.
If you have a chronic health condition, speak to your GP about how you might be able to access ECH dietetic services under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).
