ECH is pleased to advise the appointment of Dr Helena Williams to the Board, commencing November 2025.
Dr Williams is a highly respected general practitioner and experienced board director with more than 35 years of clinical and leadership experience across primary care, aged care, and health system reform. She is known for her consumer-centred approach and is passionate about improving palliative care in later life, a commitment shaped by personal experiences and professional insight.
Dr Williams currently serves as Director and Deputy Chair of the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network Board and as a Director on the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, where she chairs its National Primary Care Committee. Her previous board roles include the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, Noarlunga Health Services, Australian General Practice Network and Cancer Council SA. Dr Williams has also served as Executive Medical Director (SA/East Coast) at Silverchain Group.
ECH warmly welcomes Dr Williams and looks forward to her contribution to advancing quality care and wellbeing for older Australians.
ECH would like to acknowledge the forthcoming retirement of Dr Stephen Christley from the ECH Board, effective 31 December 2025, following two terms covering more than eight years.
Dr Christley has brought deep clinical insight, public health leadership and strategic rigour to ECH, helping to strengthen our governance, and overseeing ECH’s adoption of aged care reform.
During his time on the Board, he has served as Chair of the Customer Experience and Service Quality Committee, and as a member of both the Audit & Risk Management and Nominations, Remuneration & Workforce committees. Dr Christley’s thoughtful leadership and impact have left a lasting legacy, and ECH sincerely thanks him for his contribution and commitment to improving the lives of older Australians.
