Discover how to get more from your garden in this hands-on workshop with the team at the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium.
Explore the connection between growing, harvesting and making the most of edible plants that can be grown in kitchen gardens of all sizes. We’ll talk through the benefits of growing at least some of your own plants, along with companion planting to keep our edible plants healthy. We’ll show you how to use what you grow and connect your garden to your kitchen.
We will start the day with a short walk and talk through the Kitchen Garden at Adelaide Botanic Garden before mucking in with some hands-on activities. You’ll leave with fresh ideas to help you make your own harvest from garden to table, and take-home a cookbook.
CAPACITY AND ACCESSIBILITY
This experience will be held both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting. We will be walking through the Kitchen Garden which has some uneven pathways, please ensure comfortable, supportive shoes are worn and dress for the weather conditions.
Please note not all areas in the Kitchen Garden are accessible by wheelchairs or wide walkers. We can make some adjustments, so please let us know in advance if there are any accessibility requirements.

Meet at the Goodman Building, Lecture Theatre.
The Lecture Theatre can be accessed via external doors, via the Hackney Road entrance of Adelaide Botanic Garden. Please note that the external doors are not accessible entrances, with a steep outdoor ramp down to the Goodman Building and then a few steps into the room.
For an accessible entrance, please enter via the Goodman Building Main Entrance, on Hackney Road. Please report to Reception, who can guide to the Lecture Theatre.
