Lunch on the Lawns is part of Her Excellency’s and Mr Bunten’s aim to make Government House a place where more South Australians feel welcome to visit.
Meet the Governor of South Australia, her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, along with her husband Mr. Rod Bunten and their adorable dog Alfie, who will often be attending. Or engage in friendly conversation and immerse yourself in the community spirit of the event.
In addition to the delicious picnic vibes, visitors can also take advantage of free garden tours hosted by the Friends of the Botanic Gardens.
Tour highlights include the fascinating history of the Government House Garden, a look at the oldest tree on the property, and an interactive experience in the sensory garden, offer a unique glimpse into the beauty and heritage of the estate. Or enjoy a stroll through the Governor’s Rose Garden, with each rose dedicated to a past Governor.
There’s also a chance to touch plants in the sensory garden, visit the Governor’s Rose Garden which has a dedicated rose plant for each Governor in the history of the state, and investigate what’s in season in the vegetable gardens.
