How can an ECH Dietitian help?

All ECH Dietitians are accredited practising Dietitians, highly experienced in providing tailored nutrition and dietary advice to improve clients’ health.

They understand that food choices are personal, so will work closely with you to understand your goals, lifestyle and what you enjoy eating and drinking.

Each client’s goals are different, but some common goals include:

  • losing weight to reduce pressure and pain on knees and joints
  • using diet to help manage blood pressure and cholesterol
  • improving blood glucose levels to help manage diabetes
  • maintaining weight or preventing weight loss caused by low appetite or illness
  • swapping foods to manage a food intolerance
  • maintaining a balanced diet with chewing difficulties after a stroke
  • understanding food labels to make informed choices

When suggesting a dietary plan, our Dietitians will provide delicious recipes for you to try and explain how different foods affect your health and body, so you can make informed decisions about what you eat to make good nutrition a part of your daily life.

If you have a health condition, our Dietitians can guide you in how your diet can help to manage conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, malnutrition and low appetite or food allergies or intolerances.

Where an accident or illness has made eating or weight management more challenging for you, then our Dietitians can work with other allied health professionals to tailor an integrated approach to meet your specific needs. For example, working with a Speech Pathologist who may address challenges with chewing or swallowing and a Physiotherapist who may assist you to overcome physical barriers that prevent you from exercising or being active.

Helping Richard manage weight loss

When Richard was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphatic Lipemia, one of his symptoms was unplanned weight loss.

After losing more than 10kg a friend at his local bowls club suggested he could go to an ECH Dietitian for help managing his weight.

“Seeing an ECH Dietitian was so helpful,” says Richard. “I was able to learn about how I can adjust my diet in a healthy way to incorporate high protein snacks to gain weight. In three weeks, I gained back the weight I had lost, and now with my ECH Dietitian I can keep my current weight on track.”
