No doubt there are friends and family members you like to see often and activities that you like to do on a regular basis that make you happy.  Staying active and socially connected is important in maintaining an independent lifestyle where you feel confident and in control.

Sometimes, due to accident, illness or the natural process of ageing, challenges can arise that get in the way of socialising and doing those things that you love to do. Perhaps you are no longer able to drive, or simply no longer want to, and public transport has proven to be inconvenient.

Maybe you want to expand your social networks by taking up new interests or joining new social clubs. How about a bus trip to explore a new destination? Is there a concert, theatre performance or sporting event that you would like to go to? Maybe you just want a friendly face to drop by your home for a chat.

Or you may be a carer for someone who is recovering from an illness or accident, or perhaps they have a chronic health condition or live with dementia, and you need a short break through some in-home respite, or access to our range of day, evening and overnight respite options.

Living with Dementia

As a dementia friendly organisation, ECH offers an extensive range of services for those living with dementia, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or other cognitive conditions. These include day programs, evening programs and a state-of-the-art Overnight Respite Centre at Henley Beach offering accommodation 24 hours seven day a week. Head over to our Carers section to learn more about the full range of services.

Staying social

Socialisation means different things to different people, and no matter what it means to you, ECH can help you to get the most out of your life in the way that suits you best with its range of social visits, events and activities.

It’s important that you feel confident about the people that you let into your home and life, and you can be sure that your safety, security and comfort is of the utmost importance to ECH.

Why do people choose to participate in ECH’s social activities and programs?

You can arrange for an ECH team member to drop in to your home for a social visit, or accompany you to an event or activity of your choosing or an ECH arranged social events on a competitive fee for service basis no matter what your age is. If you are aged 65 years or over, or you are in a caring role, you may qualify for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), or a Home Care Package (HCP).
