About LGBTI Connect

Co-created with members from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) communities, ECH LGBTI Connect provides culturally safe access, navigation, advocacy and connection to aged care services for and from LGBTI community members in South Australia.

ECH is South Australia’s first Rainbow Tick accredited aged-care service provider.

ECH is a not-for-profit enterprise highly committed to being inclusive of clients and staff with differing backgrounds.

In 2017, ECH became the first South Australian aged care provider to receive Rainbow Tick accreditation by meeting six national standards of inclusive practice and service delivery for LGBTI clients.

The Rainbow Tick accreditation demonstrates to current and future ECH clients, as well as ECH employees, the commitment ECH makes to being a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for members of the LGBTI community.

Meet the team

The ECH LGBTI Connect Team comprises five older members of the LGBTI community with a deep appreciation of the fears, concerns and challenges older members of the LGBTI community face as they age.

A conversation or meeting with an ECH LGBTI Connector will be culturally safe, highly confidential and non-judgemental.

CONNECT WITH US

Connect with ECH at Feast

In 2017, ECH committed to a five-year partnership of Feast Festival – Adelaide’s only not-for-profit LGBTI Arts and Cultural Festival.

As part of this partnership ECH will once again be celebrating and participating in the annual Pride March and Picnic in the Park festivities. This year’s Pride March is taking place on Saturday 2 November from 5.30pm and is a vibrant and colourful celebration of diversity and inclusivity.

If would like to join ECH in the Pride March please contact ECH on 1300 275 324 or email ask@ech.asn.au

You can also find ECH at this year’s Picnic in The Park, where there be a range of fun activities on offer including a chance to spin and win a prize on the wheel of fortune.

ECH is proud to support a Festival that celebrates diversity and enables people to live their true colours.

In addition, ECH will also be supporting the Being Different Poetry Slam, where an intergenerational selection of LGBTI members will share their authentic experiences through poetry on Saturday 16 November from 12:30pm at the Treasury 1860 at 144 King William Street. All welcome to this free event. If you’d like to participate by reading a self-authored poem or piece of writing, please email LCInbox@ech.asn.au.

ECH offers a free LGBTI Volunteer Home Visiting Program to support older members of the LGBTI community to remain socially connected.

Each month a vetted ECH volunteer, from the LGBTI community, will visit you in your own home. Visits can involve remaining at home or your volunteer visitor can take you out to watch a movie, visit a park or attend other social activities*.
