Keeping active as you age can help you continue to enjoy activities you love whether it is gardening, tennis, walking or running around after grandchildren.
Due to an accident or injury or just through the natural process of ageing, you may find you need to adjust the type, level and frequency of your physical activity. ECH can help you identify your exercise goals and tailor a program to help you achieve them.
If you are aged 50 years or over, an ECH Wellness Centre can provide you with support, guidance and information about how to stay as fit and healthy as possible.
What should I expect?
You will need to have an initial consultation with an ECH allied health professional, who will assess your physical condition and discuss your goals with you. You will then receive a personalised exercise program specially tailored to address your unique health and physical needs and goals, including the activities you already do or would like to do.
You may choose to complete your personalised workout on your own or with the guidance of a qualified Exercise Physiologist or Fitness Instructor. Regardless of your preference, you can be assured that an allied health or fitness professional will always be present to supervise your progress in the gym and ensure your safety.
To make sure you are comfortable at the Wellness Centre, you will receive a full induction before starting your program. All of the centre gyms feature modern exercise equipment and staff are always on hand to offer expert advice and to modify your program as needed to ensure you get the best outcomes possible for you.
What else do I need to know about ECH Wellness Centres?
Located at Henley Beach, College Grove, Morphett Vale and Victor Harbor, ECH Wellness Centres have air-conditioning and change rooms for your convenience and comfort.
ECH Wellness Centres also offer an extensive range of exercise classes such as Boxercise, Chi Ball, Pilates-style core fitness and Tai Chi.
No matter your age, ECH Wellness Centre services are available to you on a self-funded basis. If you have private health insurance you may be able to seek rebates from your provider. If you are aged 65 years or over, you may qualify for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) or a Home Care Package (HCP) and you may be able to use some of this funding to access ECH Wellness services.
If you have a chronic health condition, speak to your GP about how you might be able to access ECH exercise classes under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).
